I need a reliable solution to transfer the App from my Samsung Galaxy A14 to a new Samsung Galaxy M21 without losing any data. The Solution
Note: Our step-by-step guide foregoes Samsung Smart Transfer
Step 1: Back Up Your Data on Samsung Galaxy A14
- Open WhatsApp Business on your Samsung Galaxy A14.
- Tap on the three dots in the top right corner to open the menu.
- Go to Settings > Chats > Chat backup.
- Tap on Back Up to create a manual backup. Ensure you have a Google account linked for the backup.
- Log in to your Gmail account (e.g., neemapastries@gmail.com) on your A14 to back up your data to Google Drive.
Step 2: Transfer WhatsApp Business to Samsung Galaxy M21
- Install WhatsApp Business on your Samsung Galaxy M21 from the Google Play Store.
- Open WhatsApp Business on the M21 and follow the setup process.
- When prompted, verify your phone number (use the same number as on your A14).
- When prompted, verify using the code sent on WhatsApp Business App on the old device, Samsung Galaxy A14.
- Log in to the same Gmail account (neemapastries@gmail.com) on your M21.
- WhatsApp will detect the backup from Google Drive and ask if you want to restore it. Tap Restore.
- When prompted, verify using the 6-digit pin initially created on your old device, Samsung Galaxy A14.
- Wait for the restoration process to complete. This may take some time depending on the size of your backup.
Step 3: Log Out from Samsung Galaxy A14
- Once the data is successfully restored on your M21, WhatsApp Business on your old device (Samsung Galaxy A14) will ask whether the intent is to link a second device [Copy Data] OR perform a complete migration to a new device [Move Data].
- For Copy Data Option, WhatsApp Business simply adds your new device as a linked device
- For Move Data Option, WhatsApp Business simply logs out the old device after the migration is complete!
Step 4: Retain WhatsApp Business on Your Laptop
Since your WhatsApp Business on the laptop is linked to your phone, it should continue to work seamlessly after the transfer.
However, WhatsApp did log out on Neema’s laptop upon migration to a new default device (M21).
A simple QR Code got the App on the laptop working afresh.
Check linked devices and delete any extra logged out devices.
Additional Tips for a Seamless Transfer
- Ensure a Stable Internet Connection: Make sure both your A14 and M21 are connected to a stable Wi-Fi network during the backup and restore process to avoid nuisance interruptions.
- Check Google Drive Storage: Ensure you have enough storage space in your Google Drive for the backup.
- For proper handling of WhatsApp Business Backups use a unique Gmail address (e.g., neemapastries@gmail.com) –one that is not a personal Gmail – we consider this common practice
- Keep Both Devices Charged: Ensure both your A14 and M21 have sufficient battery life during the transfer process.

While you can always choose unconventional haphazard migration methods, our guide ensures a smooth and secure transfer of your WhatsApp Business application from an old device to a new one without any data loss.
